“Turn Your Fears into Fuel”
By Bill Fifield, VP Marketing
One of the greatest benefits of being in Jerky Direct is how it helps us overcome hidden fears as we ask the questions, “Do you like jerky? Do you know anyone else who likes jerky? Do you like to make money?”
Fear to talk to people is one of the greatest stumbling blocks to our success in this business and in life. Roger Ball has famously asked, “how much better off would you be if you had less fear?” Put a pencil to that one sometime. You’ll be shocked at the number you come up with. So what would overcoming your fears be worth to you financially?
T. Harv Ecker, author of the number one New York Times bestseller, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind teaches that we are not our fears. They don’t belong to us like our arms or our eyes. “Conditioning is not who you are,” he writes in his book, “but who you learned to be. You can see that you are not the ‘recording’ but the ‘recorder.’ You are not the ‘content’ in the glass but the ‘glass’ itself. You are not the software but the hardware.”
He tells us how to change. We go through waves of fear and courage. When we’re feeling courageous, we give a friend a piece of jerky, ask our famous questions, and invite them to go to our website. But the next day we’re feeling fearful so we don’t follow up.
We only act when our fears are under control. Then our worst fears take over and we freeze. Ecker
says that we need to act at the moment of our worst fears because paralyzing from fear is a habit that must be broken. The best time to break it is when it’s highest. Success comes from this habit, not a single brave event.
He also teaches something really compelling that should make us even more eager to conquer our fears. He says that fear is a selfish emotion. Whenever we’re afraid to talk to someone about JD Premium, it’s because we’re thinking of our rejection not what’s good for the other person. We’re not thinking about how our products and opportunity can bless others’ lives. Fear is about me, me, me; not you, you, you.
What an empowering thought! It made me think of Zig Ziglar’s famous quote: “You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.” People want and desperately need what we have to offer. We can’t let our fear get in the way of what others want and need.
John Addison said it best: “You’ve got to turn your fears into fuel.”
Stories you can use:
Fruit Stix without the Sticky
Give the kids a fruit rollup or soft fruit snack of some other kind and watch the mess. The car and the kids look like you just spread jam everywhere. But Fruit Stix? They’re coated with a special soft, no-taste collagen coating that keeps them from making a mess. You can peel off the coating or leave it, whichever you prefer.
Whole Fruit Goodness Plus Omega-3 Protection
How many fruits and vegetables do you or your kids eat? Is it the 5-a-day? How many omega-3s are you getting? Now you can get both by sharing Fruit Stix with Omega-3s from Antarctic Krill Oil. They’re healthy and delicious with no fishy burp like you’d get from a fish oil capsule.
Anti-inflammatory omega-3s help in brain development, joint movement, and cardiovascular health.
Tomatoes with Feta Cheese and Buffalo Shredded Jerky
You’ll be amazed at such an elegant dish with so few ingredients in so little time.
2 medium tomatoes Salt and pepper to taste 1⁄4 c. crumbled feta or shredded mozzarella
cheese (1 oz)
2 tbsps chopped pitted ripe olives 1 tbsp chopped green onion 1⁄4 c. Hickory Smoked Shredded Buffalo Jerky
Remove stem ends from tomatoes. Cut crosswise in half. Arrange cut sides up in circle in microwavable pie plate. Salt and pepper tomatoes. Cover with waxed paper and microwave on high 2 minutes. Rotate plate 1⁄2 turn. Mix remaining ingredients. Sprinkle mixture over tomatoes. Re-cover and microwave 2 minutes or until tomatoes are hot and cheese is melted.
Tip: If you like this recipe, try sprinkling healthy Hickory Smoked Shredded Buffalo Jerky in salads, on sandwiches, and in other quick microwave recipes that call for meat garnishes. Substitute the unhealthy processed meats you have to chop with healthy shredded jerky.

January 2010 Jerky Newsletter from JD

March 3rd, 2011

JERKY DIRECT JANUARY 2010 NEWSLETTER
As we embark upon a new year and a new decade as members and friends in Jerky Direct, it seems like a good opportunity to take a glance back at where we have come from. It is my experience that doing so can often help give a good indication of where a person might be headed. One hundred years is a nice round number and many of us have grandparents, aunts and uncles that were very much a part of what was happening in the 1910’s.
•    The average U.S. workingman earned less than $15 per week, working from 54 to 60 hours, and there was wide irregularity of employment.
•    The Western Pacific Railroad reached Oakland, California. It was the last of the country’s transcontinental lines.
•    The Cunard Liner R.M.S. Mauretania sailed from Cobb to New York in 4 days, 20 hours, 41 minutes to set a new transatlantic speed record that stood until 1929.
•    Glenn M. Curtiss flew from Albany to New York in 150 minutes to break the long-distance speed record and win a $10,000 prize put up by Joseph Pulitzer’s New York World.
•    ”Barney” Oldfield drove a mile in 27! seconds at Daytona Beach, Florida, setting a speed record of 131.724 miles per hour that stood for years.
•    The United States had 1,000 miles of concrete road, up from 144 miles in 1900. Steel began to replace wood in U.S. automobile bodies.
•    Black & Decker Co. was founded in Baltimore by local tool-and-die cutter Duncan Black, who sold his car for $600, borrowed $1,200 from a bank, and went into partnership with fellow tool-and-die cutter Alonzo Decker, renting a warehouse in Calvert Street and making tools—a bottle-cap machine for a local dairy, a vest-pocket adding machine and a device for the government that splits and coils stamps.
•    The Miami Herald began publication December 1 to serve a city whose population was under 6,000.
•    Hallmark Inc. has its beginnings in a wholesale card jobbing company started in Kansas City by Nebraska-born entrepreneur Joyce Clyde Hall, 18, and his brother, who soon started dealing in greeting cards. They bought their own printing plant in 1916 and become the world’s largest maker of greeting cards.
•    Evinrude Motors was founded in Milwaukee by Norwegian-born inventor Ole Evinrude, then 33, who helped develop the Harley Davidson motorcycle carburetor in 1903.
•    The Camp Fire Girls of America was founded by Luther Halsey Gulick, 45, who helped James Naismith invent the game of basketball in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
•    The Boy Scouts of America was founded by a committee that included painter- illustrator Daniel Carter “Uncle Dan” Beard, then 60, who illustrated books by the late Mark Twain and wrote books of his own about camping and nature.
•    Sunbeam Corp. had its beginnings in a company started by the Chicago Flexible Shaft Co. to make kitchen appliances. The company had been making tools for grooming farm animals.
As you can see, we have enjoyed spectacular change and progress while in a few ways, life has not changed a great deal. It would be another 50 years before Jay Van Andel and Richard DeVos would give birth to Amway and pioneer the concept of direct marketing. A decade later, Roger Ball would rock the snack food industry with his innovations and advancements in the meat snacks but as a result of such pioneers, we now have the opportunity to combine these great concepts – Jerky and Direct Sales!
A couple of the things that our predecessors needed just as much as we do are nourishment and money. Jerky Direct is an opportunity born in the 2000’s that provides exactly that. Where else can a person enjoy a tasty source of protein that is low fat and not loaded up with carbs and also have the chance to have that snack source paid for or even make some extra spending cash? And when Roger Ball determined to bring this concept to life, he looked back to those same predecessors and was determined to create a jerky like they would have made – a jerky containing no artificial ingredients, preservatives or added hormones. This ensures that each and every bag is a delight to the taste buds and completely safe for you, your family and all your friends. Thank goodness for history and the lessons it can teach us!
SUPER FOOTBALL PARTY MIX
As we prepare for all the upcoming big games, be sure and order some extra jerky to get you through all the instant replays and sudden death overtimes. Here is a neat idea to try for your next big game!
Ingredients
•    4 cups each Corn Chex, Rice Chex and Wheat Chex •    2 packages (3 ounces each) Beer Nuts •    1/2 cup butter, melted •    1 envelope taco seasoning or ranch seasoning
•    1 package (4 ounces) Jerky Direct® Beef Jerky Directions
•    In a large bowl, combine cereal and nuts. In a small bowl, combine butter and taco/ranch seasoning. Pour over cereal mixture and toss to evenly coat.
•    Transfer to two greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pans. Bake, uncovered, at 250° for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Stir in beef jerky. Cool completely, stirring several times. Yield: about 13 cups.

Jerky Newsletter February 2010

February 2010
Jerky Direct Newsletter
Now that the New Year is well underway and we are all doing great on our resolutions, let’s take a moment to examine the business opportunity that we are all involved with at Jerky Direct a bit closer. People generally think of network marketing as people selling products to other people. There is also a component related to recruiting other people into your network or team. The focus is usually on making money and creating residual income in order to improve your lifestyle, have more time and freedom and also to acquire and enjoy luxuries that are often out of reach for most people but the potential of network marketing is even bigger than all that. It is about having the potential to be a POWERFUL force.
You first need to understand the basic concept behind network marketing before you can understand the amount of POWER that we are talking about. The theory (and reality) of network marketing is that a very large number of people each do a small thing. If the goal is to sell a product such as jerky, then you create a NETWORK of people who all eat jerky and like it enough to tell other people. Those people also then eat jerky and tell even more people. If you know anything about math, you see how this group can grow exponentially. Even if every single person only recruited two people, based on Metcalf’s Law, in as quickly as six months there could be over 500 people in that network.
The beauty in this and the POWER is that no one person needs to be superman or superwoman and sell large quantities of products or recruit large numbers of people for it to grow. Instead, people need to do a little bit, consistently and model this for those they sell to or recruit. They need to train their downline to duplicate what they have done (ie: sell to 5 people, or recruit 3 people). Their downline, in turn needs to train all their people to do the same. This is how successful network marketing teams and business operate.
2010 will be a great year for each of us in Jerky Direct and it will give back to us what we put into it. If we are fans of quality meat snacks and love having them delivered to our door each month for a fair and reasonable price, Jerky Direct is a great fit. And if we have friends that also love all-natural or organic jerky at those same prices delivered to their homes and we don’t mind sharing a great idea, then Jerky Direct can also become a profit center and bless our lives in that way. Whether you share this idea with just a person or two or you chose to tell everyone you know, the great benefit that we have in this company is that no one ever seems offended or upset to hear about such a fun and delicious business idea. So let’s keep the jerky and the excitement rolling and share a bag with a friend today!

1 lb. Jerky Direct jerky (beef or buffalo) 2 c. whole dried hominy, soaked overnight in ample water 1 lg. yellow onion, peeled and chopped 1 lb. unpeeled potatoes, diced Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Break the jerky up into 1-inch pieces and place in a heavy, lidded kettle. Drain the hominy and add to the jerky, along with the onion. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, until the hominy is tender, about 2 hours. You will have to watch this closely, as more water will have to be added as you go along. Add the potatoes and cook for an additional 20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

JERKY DIRECT Jerkyquest MAY 2010 NEWSLETTER

JERKY DIRECT MAY 2010 NEWSLETTER
As spring is upon us and summer is fast approaching, a strange and interesting thing seems to take place. All those homes and houses in our towns that seem closed up tight all winter long now seem to have taken on a new identity and there are actually people seen in and around them! My sure sign that the season has officially changed is the sound of the lawnmower belonging to the retired guy down around the corner announcing that everyone needs to get out and get busy. Yes – I have already heard it this spring and I was thinking “Why can’t you at least hold off another couple weeks?”. I will now be shamed into turning on the sprinkler system and repairing all the leaks and broken parts that each winter seems to bring…
But the upside to all of this is the fact that people do come out and begin to socialize and BBQ and it is a season when people tend to mingle much more. There could not be a better time to share a great idea like Jerky Direct. That makes it a perfect time to introduce our $imple $ix Program for those of you who are new to Jerky Direct or refresh our memories for everyone else. It is not unusual at all to have a great idea or concept that we think would be really cool to share with others but just not quite know where to start or how to approach others with that great idea. The $imple $ix Program addresses all of those concerns and provides a roadmap to accomplish whatever level of success you may have in mind.
Building your network cannot be accomplished on your own. It needs to be done through Teamwork! You must build a team of Distributors who are motivated and willing to put forth the effort to recruit other Distributors who are also motivated and willing to do the same, and so on. The team that you build will determine a large portion of your overall success. The best way to build a successful team is to recruit Distributors who are committed to follow the $imple $ix Program.
GOALS OF THE $IMPLE $IX PROGRAM
1. Build a strong business organization. 2. Increase your immediate income. 3. Build a stable, passive, residual income. 4. Strengthen your long term retirement income.
Theword“simple”hassixlettersinitandisthebasisofthe$imple$ixProgram. This program does require a commitment of time and effort. In order to make this program work for you, you must commit to do the following during the first 7 days:
• Fill out the “Circle of Influence” list with names of people that you believe are capable of leadership and training roles.
Make personal contact with the people on your Circle of influence list and enroll six of those people. As we have discussed in previous months, this is often easier said than done. The advantage that each of us in Jerky Direct has that is not there in most any other direct marketing company is that we offer a high quality, highly sought-after product that is easily consumed with a very affordable monthly purchase minimum of
• $12.00. Where most people do not want to hear about another vitamin or shampoo nor do they have an extra $120 every month, everyone loves jerky and will fall in love with the taste and quality of Jerky Direct All-Natural and Organic Meat Snacks.
• Commit each of your six new Distributors to sit down and follow these same steps for success.
If you become truly committed to the above plan, you should never fall below 50% efficiency. If you do fall below a level of efficiency that you find acceptable, it is then time to return to your Circle of Influence and recruit another person into the $imple $ix Program.
The $imple $ix Program has proven to be one of the best systems available to build your business. This brochure is a COMPLETE presentation of the program. It is a step by step guide, it explains the goals, has a Circle of Influence list to fill out and even a commitment form, all in one easy to follow brochure. They are prepackaged in bundles of 12 designed for you to use and hand out to your new enrollees. You can order these from your website for $5/dozen.
THE $IMPLE $IX PROGRAM COMMITMENT
1. RECRUIT SIX NEW DISTRIBUTORS IN MY FIRST SEVEN DAYS. 2. COMMIT EACH NEW DISTRIBUTOR IN THE PROGRAM TO DO THE SAME. 3. ASSIST NEW DISTRIBUTORS IN THEIR RECRUITING EFFORTS. 4. PROVIDE MENTORING, TRAINING AND ACCESS TO MATERIALS NEEDED. 5. PROVIDE NEEDED ENCOURAGEMENT AND INSPIRATION. 6. FOLLOW-UP WITH EACH DISTRIBUTOR THAT I HAVE RECRUITED TO ENSURE
SUCCESS.

Eric Jerky News, Recipes - How to make amazing jerky

May 2009 Jerky Newsletter

February 7th, 2011

MAY 2009
Directly Yours
Thereare3partstoyourprospectingstoryforJerkyDirect
Part one is success stories. You want to have lots of them and collect them. Get them down. Make sure they’re easy to tell. It’s like learning to tell a good joke. There are two types of success stories—one is how great the Jerky and Fruit Stix are, the other is about their income in this business.
Here’s how to use success stories. When you talk with
interested in. Don’t pry into their snack habits or pre-qualify them in any way. Here’s how easy it is.
Simply share a piece of jerky, and talk a little about natural, great-tasting jerky in a very common way. Then roll right into a story. “Let me tell you how much money my friend is making and how much I’m starting to make sharing this jerky.” Lay a testimonial on them. They almost always come back and say, “that tastes good! How much money are you making?”
Keep an inventory of testimonials. Everyone who comments on how delicious the jerky is, make a mental note or write it down…anyone you meet in the business too. Ask them what they like about the jerky, the Fruit Stix and the business. That’s a success story. The more success stories we know, the better storytellers we’ll be.
When you’re first starting out, you don’t have to limit yourself to your own success story. You can use others’ stories…things you read on the website and in the newsletter. The more you personally have experienced the product, the closer the success story is to you personally, the better. It’s important to always be looking to create a success story with those you’re with. That’s why it’s important to work your warm market, because your friends and family will share success stories with you, and you can keep pulling stories out of them whenever you’re
“Lay a testimonial on them.”
together with them. At family gatherings, they know you’ll always be asking,“how does John like the jerky? How do you eat it? Do you carry it in the car? Does it go in the kids’ lunches? How much are you getting a month?” Gather the best responses and use them for success stories. Those closest to you will want to help you in your business because it’s so affordable and easy.
The second part is telling a little about the products. You need to know how to really describe the product in a compelling way in layman’s terms. Have something you can pull out of your purse or brief case to show them—a package of jerky, a one-page comp. plan explanation, a business card with your website address on it. Carry these with you everywhere you go. Show and tell is far more impressive than just telling. Get people to wonder, “what’s that?” If you’re doing flea markets, shows or fairs, everyone on the team needs to have packages in their hands for show and tell. As people walk by they’ll be curious about what you’re showing to others. It stops people. They all want to know about some new thing. They’ll slow up and stop for a possible sample.
(Continued Page 2)
…three parts to your prospecting story for Jerky Direct (cont.)
Know what’s on the website about the product. Be prepared to explain organic, grass-fed beef in a fairly strong, but an easy, conversational way. Then you can move into more financial success stories.
The third part of your story is the busi- ness side. Don’t be afraid to talk money. One of biggest prob- lems when people present their story is that they can’t talk money. A new Distributor isn’t making money himself yet, so she’s afraid to talk money. You’ve got to talk money to make money. Be big about the business even if you’ve only been in it one day. You need to present yourself in a big fashion without stretching the truth. All you need to do is present it in a big fashion with plenty of confidence.
Use your money success stories here. Tell them that there are lots of people doing things that aren’t that hard and bringing lots of people into the business.
People are different in what grabs their attention. If I’m a money guy and you approach me with the jerky, you’ve lost me. Eventually I’ll want to know about the product because you have to have both a great product and a great opportunity, but if I’m a money guy, you have to lead with the money. Others need to know first about the product.
You also have to get a feel for how much money is going to grab people’s attention along with how they have to work to get it.
Some people would tune you out if you led with how

they were going to make $10k a month. Some need a vision for how they can do an extra $500 or $100 a month with a certain level of commitment. Feel them out and see how they respond. You’ll lose some of the best business builders if you don’t focus on what grabs their attention and imagination. Be willing and able to talk about both products and money equally well.
Don’t prejudge people. Practice on everyone. Be consistent at approaching everyone. Beat everybody else out there to the punch, and you’ll be a winner. You’ll be doing the thing that makes the biggest difference in your success. Be out there and meet people.
“DO YOU LIKE JERKY?”
As an avid jerky lover, it was always a challenge to find inexpensive, quality, natural jerky products. That was until I was researching on the internet and found Jerky Direct.
It came at a time when I was not only looking for great jerky, but a chance to find something to reward me financially and personally. It was hard to believe what I was reading. I was like “That’s it?!”. No cars? No trips? No ” You can be a million- aire!” dialogue?
What I read and watched in the next 15 minutes was a complete and total package that could work for anyone and everyone. I knew I had to try this product and see if it was as good as it sounded and if so, this was about to be a most exciting adventure
…Make a commitment to succeed with Jerky Direct. It’s not hard work, it’s about staying focused. It’s as simple as asking everyone you know “Do you like Jerky?”.
